Nicole McLeod

As a Georgia girl and Augusta native, Nicole McLeod brings more than her art and journalism education to her job at the Morris Museum of Art. She also carries with her a born-and-raised perspective on the community, the culture and its people.
And in art as in life, perspective is everything.

Have you seen any of the Night at the Museum movies?
Not yet, but I am familiar with them—a very interesting and imaginative concept.

If someone spent the night at The Morris, which exhibits would give him or her the most trouble if they came to life?
I do not think there is one particular image or gallery that would give the most trouble, but it would definitely be interesting to see the variety of characters, from the 19th century to the present, interacting.

Which exhibits would be the most fun?

The abstract paintings, especially the Ida Kohlmeyer sculpture, Rebus 92-3.

One final movie-related question: Would you rather be the museum night guard or a reanimated exhibit?
A reanimated exhibit all the way. Then I could travel the museum and check out all the pieces that we have in storage—all the cool behind-the-scenes stuff.

What’s the most un-museum like work you do?
Cleaning after an event—we throw some awesome parties at the Morris! Have you been to our gala?

What is best part of working at a museum?
Being surrounded by art and meeting people, especially up-and-coming and legendary artists. Who wouldn’t love that?
