Publisher’s Notes • October 2012

I’d like to invite you to join us in commemorating what’s best about Augusta at our annual Best of Augusta Celebration on October 16.

From business owners who are first-time winners to perennial favorites, people are always excited, honored and grateful when they’re notified that they have been voted the best by the readers of Augusta Magazine. Even though there are many contests like ours around now, people believe it is something special to be voted tops by our readers in a poll that started them all more than 25 years ago.

You’ll find our annual Best of Augusta feature beginning on page 32. Peruse the pages to find great places to eat, shop and have fun. You may discover something new to try or be pleased to see that your favorite is everyone else’s favorite too.

Our Best of Augusta Celebration will be held Tuesday, October 16, at Sacred Heart Cultural Center, from 6 to 9 p.m. Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the door. All ticket sales benefit Sacred Heart and the Greater Augusta Arts Council, two wonderful organizations that need our support.

The Best of Augusta Celebration is one of the most fun and affordable parties of the year. You will not only have the opportunity to meet many of our winners but also to listen to their music and sample their food. Tickets are on sale now online at www.augustamagazine.com and at Sacred Heart Gift Shop, The Augusta Chronicle cashiers office and the Columbia County News Times office in Evans.

This is our second year to host the event at Sacred Heart. Last year’s party-goers and winners gave us very positive feedback about the venue and we’re looking forward to being there again this year. It’s an ideal location for enjoying the “best” of the city’s music talent while at the same time sampling all the great food.

As always, the winners are the real heroes of the Best of Augusta Celebration. Without their generous contribution of food and entertainment each year, we would not be able to raise funds for these important community organizations.

We are very pleased to partner with the Arts Council and Sacred Heart on this fun, annual event. Hosting it at Sacred Heart has added beauty and history and is an exciting change for our winners. If you haven’t been in a few years, this would be a great year to join us. We are looking forward to a special evening with our readers, customers and friends. See you there!
