Jun 8, 2012 to Jul 27, 2012
The Gertrude Herbert Institute of Art will present ceramicist Kyungmin Park in a solo exhibition opening June 8 and on view through July 27, 2012. A native of South Korea, Park creates ceramic sculptures that seem to tilt on the edge of possibility as she incorporates the human form into seemingly impossible spatial creations. The repeated face of an Asian girl reflects her youth and appears throughout the collection of work. Classically trained, Park received her MFA in Ceramics from the Lamar Dodd School of Art, University of Georgia. She received a BA in ceramic arts from the New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred University, Alfred, New York. A recipient of Best of Show at the Gertrude Herbert’s 2010 A Sense of Place National Juried Fine Art Competition.
An Opening Reception and Gallery Talk will be held Friday, June 8, from 6-8 p.m. Free for GHIA Members, $5 nonmembers. Complimentary beer, wine, and hors d'oeuvres.
