Publisher's Notes
This issue marks the second year we’ve published our popular “Best of Augusta At Home” feature, which includes 25 home building, renovation and design categories of interest to consumers planning to undertake a home improvement or design project in the future. This listing provides a cross-section of what Augusta Magazine readers view as the best people and businesses in our market—from plumbing fixtures to countertops to flooring to fabric—to assist you with your building and renovation and landscaping needs. At the first of the year, readers were invited to go online to our website and cast their ballots with a voting deadline in late March. The winners, along with their locations and contact information, are featured in this issue.
If your home is your castle, you will want to give consideration to our first, second and third place winners as you formulate plans to update your home over the coming year. From fence installation, to outdoor lighting to carpet and tile, the list is comprehensive.
When my husband and I were in the process of renovating and restoring a late-1800s house on the Hill, it was daunting at times to identify the contractors and vendors who best understood the nuances of working on an older house. Whether you need someone who specializes in plaster repair or refinishing wood floors, or a contractor to custom-fit cabinets, update vintage electrical and plumbing, renovating an older house can be overwhelming, even in the case of a seemingly small project like redoing a bathroom.
The winners of our Best of Home ballot results are a good point of reference for your home improvement project—inside or out, large or small, old house or new. Though every “best” in Augusta may not be listed here, our readers recommendations provide a real user consensus for your consideration.
Congratulations to all of our Best of Augusta Home winners, many of whom have been doing business in Augusta for generations. And thanks to our readers who took the time to vote and share their opinions. Please consider our winners for your next home project.
After all, the holidays and Masters are just around the corner!
